I have never used an Iphone, know nothing about them and have always used a flip phone.
One thing I found very useful and I do it alot is, send texts to Iphones from my email account when on a pc.
I just put the persons area code and phone number in the To box and add the SMS gateway domain to it and the message sends from my pc to the recipiants phone.
For example 4151234567@vtext.com for text messages and 4151234567@vzwpix.com for images to a Verizon phone.
