Experienced Apple/iPhone Users - Scott(0) - 05-19-2018 I use an Android phone and have very little Apple knowledge. I'm hoping some of you experienced iPhone users can help. My mother is a member of a retirement group (70+ age range), they all have iPhones. One of the members, Rozzie, has a text messaging problem: Situation #1 ------------ If Rozzie sends a text message from her iPhone to another iPhone the text message will intermittently display only on the recipient's iPad (in the messaging application) but not in the recipient's iPhone. Situation #2 ------------ If I attempt to send Rozzie a text message from my Android phone it *always* fails. If I send Rozzie an email from my Android phone it is successful. Is anyone familiar with these issues? Please keep in mind many of the ladies are in the 75-80 age range so any suggestions will need to be very simple. Thanks Scott Re: Experienced Apple/iPhone Users - trinidad - 05-19-2018 Make sure the iphone SMS settings are set to receive by its phone number and not its Apple ID. TC Re: Experienced Apple/iPhone Users - TheDead - 05-19-2018 Some apps, like Fongo, etc. also manage SMS so texts could arrive in an app maybe? Re: Experienced Apple/iPhone Users - GregO - 05-20-2018 I have never used an Iphone, know nothing about them and have always used a flip phone. One thing I found very useful and I do it alot is, send texts to Iphones from my email account when on a pc. I just put the persons area code and phone number in the To box and add the SMS gateway domain to it and the message sends from my pc to the recipiants phone. For example for text messages and for images to a Verizon phone. Gateway domians can be found here... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMS_gateway Re: Experienced Apple/iPhone Users - Scott(0) - 05-20-2018 Thanks to all who left ideas, it's very much appreciated. [member=5916]trinidad[/member] - Hello, thanks for the advice: Quote:make sure the iphone SMS settings are set to receive by its phone number and not its Apple ID. I (think) I remember a setting - use SMS when iMessage isn't available. It was an on/off toggle. Is this what you're referring to above or a different setting? I'm not sure exactly, but it does not depend on the device model since it depends only on the tariff of your provider: if you have paid the opportunity to send text messages, they will be sent, and if not - then not. Call your provider and specify the availability of the services according to your tariff. Good luck!
