Is my computer 32 bit or 64 bit?
#1
I think my machine is telling programs its a 64 bit architecture when its actually a 32:

I'd like to a) find out/verify, if this is happening, /b) correct it if it is. Often my installation works w/newly installed stuff, but often when it doesn't, this seems to b root. Please help me find out if my machine is a bold-faced liar, /end the problem, if so.

1 example I consider fairly conclusive: When I go to install the latest version of chrome, the web-page basically tells me I have a 64 bit machine, but when I use Gdebi, it says it can't install Chrome because it's AMD 64 which is wrong architecture. Seems to me my computer told the Chrome install page it was 64, but then Gdebi looked into the matter/found its 32.
