That looks like it has not been updated in a long time.

Stick with handbrake.

Last updated: 2015. That being said it doesn't mean won't work, but there are better and newer well and constantly maintained alternatives. I think in your case "resizing a video" openshot might be what you're looking for https://www.openshot.org/ Also, check this tutorial https://www.openshot.org/user-guide/

Hope this helps! Smile

I agree with Openshot suggestion by Moltke. An Appimage can be downloaded from the web site, no installation needed. Works great for me on LL3.8
1) Lenovo T520 i5 LL3.8 8GB ram, fast & stable
2) Medion P4 32bit LL3.8 1GB ram, quite fast & stable
3) eeePC 901 32bit LL3.8 1GB ram, fast & stable
4) eeePC 701 32bit LL3.8 1GB ram, slower & stable but small and light enough to travel with me to New Zealand when visiting family in Blenheim.

Videmux also could be considered as an option, I use it to split'n combine video clips.
I won't let an old, but fully functional computer die just because some company tell me that they won't make no more security updates to their OS. Thanks Linux Smile
