Linux Lite 2.8 Suggestion Thread
#1
It's that time again. It's your feedback that steers this distro in a progressive direction. Please remember to only include ideas that have both wide appeal and a sense of familiarity to Windows users. Think XP not Windows 10 Wink

First thing I'm looking at doing is putting a shortcut to the Help Manual on the desktop, as many people are still bypassing this resource when seeking help.

Really looking forward to all of your suggestions Smile

Hi Jerry,

I think this may have come up before..?? "Automatic Check for Updates"
I may be in the minority, but have LL running on 5 devices.
In my simple terms the flow:

1. Either at boot, or every 48hrs(?) check for Internet connection, is it present, YES
2. In the background check for LL updates, are any available, YES
3. "Pop" a dialogue box "There are updates available, would you like to install now.?"
If user clicks "YES", do what you currently do when somebody manually checks for updates
If user clicks "NO", give them a reminder, "Please remember to check for updates later"
4. Go-back and start at 1 again.

Just my thoughts/ideas.
This is almost like Windows update.

@Dave, we already have something similar to that under development, and there is another project that are in development that could run from the tray. It just boils down to time available to work on these. Misko has been working on something too, so it will just be a matter of time before we have a complete range of tools to manage updating Smile

@ Jerry,
Thanks... That's all looking very positive...

Just a thought,
1 item you might consider adding to the Auto Clean option "Browser Cookies"...
For those who really do want some more privacy..!!

Loving the new dark theme but you might consider making the minimize, maximize and close buttons (in the top right corner of each window) the same as in Windows instead of the generic dots as they are now.

Minor thing (so maybe it's easy to fix).

Might I also suggest we include the Vista users in our crystal ball; I still have family members locked into this version without much hope of finding a version of Windows 7 to upgrade to.  Such users' only option iss to run the guantlet on the second user market place - auction sites- with the real chance that they end up paying for a "iffy" copy instead of a proper version.

In most cases Vista pcs will struggle to use Windows 8/10 so there is a real risk that users will have to buy new kit unnecessarily.  Our next possible target group therefore??

To Monkeyman,

There are other Max, Min, and Close options.  Look into the Window Manager.  Menu, Settings, Window Manager.  You can choose a different theme.  And of course, others can be installed.
