How to Get LinuxLite desktop and menu

I recently changed from Linux Mint to Linux Lite, installing from a 3.0 CD/DVD I had lying around. I installed it and did the updates and upgrade, so I now have LL 3.2. That's not the problem.

The problem I'm having is that I get the XFCE desktop and panel. I want to get the Linux Lite desktop and panel (like I saw on the desktop when I did the initial install). I'm not seeing the option on how to do that in any of the menus (or I saw it and didn't recognize it).

Help please.

I pretty much took the defaults. The partitions were already set up from the previous Linux install. I kept the partitions that were there the same size (/boot, /, /home, swap) and type (ext4). The only partition I didn't format was /home to preserve what was there (that worked).

I believe I got it from OSDisc.com, so I would say it's a good copy. I was trying out distros and didn't want to take the time downloading and burning DVDs.

/home should be formatted as our distribution has many modified files in there. That is more than likely your issue right there.

I preserved /home because I had files there I wanted to keep around from the previous distribution without going through the backup/restore muck. Yes, the files are still there.

As a rule, you shouldn't be sticking config files in /home.

I'm not going to lose much by doing another install, but mentioning that little tidbit during or prior to install would have helped!  :

I do get, that you're a bit frustrated about that experience. But I find it very unfair to blame Jerry for it!

He never stated anywhere that you can use your home directory, specifically all the config files which come with it, created while using another distribution. On the other hand, you've never asked before performing your install
That being said, I'm sure Jerry is the last one refusing to improve the installation notes. Even if Linux Lite is primarily targeting Windows users who are not facing that home directory re-use problem, it's a good idea to spell it out for someone changing distros

Regarding the config files: Where would you suggest user relevant config files to be stored if not in the home directory of the user? Sure, it would be nice if all software developers got used to the habit to stick the config files into a sub folder of .config in the home directory instead of polluting the root directory of the user's home.

A full reinstall, including formatting the /home partition has my system looking like I expected it to be. What I lost was just a couple of PDFs from full circle magazine that I can re-download if I want.
