How to know what version I am running
#1
I have been running 32 bit Lite on my old laptop for some time. When I use the command line to try and find what version I have I get Ubuntu 14. ??? . Lite is never mentioned. I realize that Lite is based on Ubuntu LTS but I would like to upgrade to the latest version available. It looks like from what I can find that 2.4 and 2.6 are only 64 bit. Is that correct?

If I am not sure of which version that I have, I could really mess it up couldn't I?

Open a terminal, do:

Code:
cat /etc/llver

that will return what version of LL you are running.

Hello!

Fortunately,  the point series upgrades here are fast and, AFAIK, if not perfectly safe, then certainly a whole lot safer that a (  )buntu point upgrade is. 2.6 is my third point upgrade, and all three went off flawlessly...
