No sound coming from speaker!!

I was using LL 4.8 earlier but now i have installed LL 3.8 (32-bit) due to some perfomance issues on my old machine.
Now i'm getting sound issues in 3.8. What should i do? The sound is fine in windows 7 (dual boot) and also in previously installed versions of LL (4.8 and 5.0)

The device is detected and i can play audio/video files but only sound is not coming. Needs help...
