Why Chrome?

Many Linux Lite users seem to think that Chrome and/or Chromium is a better browser choice than Firefox. Personally, concerning Linux Lite (Ubuntu based), I doubt there is a single real reason why Chrome or Chromium is better choice. In fact Firefox is now actually integrated into Ubuntu to manage resources much better than Chrome/Chromium and better aimed at the future concerning web extensions. I doubt there is a single technical real reason to use Chrome/Chromium in Ubuntu anymore, and in fact Firefox is technically superior in Linux. Don't answer this thread with opinions, anecdotal experiences, personal preferences, or suggestions for alternative browsers. This is not a request for your opinions. Answer with a technical real reason why Chrome/Chromium is a better choice. Good luck, because it definitely is NOT a better choice. The pseudo-tech Web is fueled by misinformation and poorly drawn preferences and opinion. LL is beautiful system, and Firefox is wonderfully integrated into it. On 64bit hardware with 4G of RAM or more there is no sensible technical reason to add alternative browsers to it.

I'm not sure what you're asking to be a "technical real reason" since you started by giving your personal opinion on why you think Firefox is a better choice.  I don't really like chrome, but chromium has proven to be a very reliable browser, at least that's been my experience so far. In any case, web browsers are a matter of tastes and needs, whichever works better for you then stick to it till it doesn't anymore and restart the "best web browser" hunt again lol...

I always use Chromium (in preference to Firefox) on laptops 2, 3 & 4 (shown in footnote) for the simple reason that I've found it opens and runs/searches more quickly. I don't understand most of the technical aspects, so for me I just go with a "suck it and see" way of doing things - apologies TC if this isn't the reply you were after ...

Same here. In comparison with FF it's been my experience that it is a bit faster. I also use Opera from time to time and it is faster than FF too. It has become apparent to us during an internal audit that Firefox browsers continued to send telemetry to Mozilla even when telemetry has been explicitly disabled under the "Privacy & Security" tab in the preference settings. The component in question is called Telemetry coverage

Like I said, I don't fully understand all of that but then again many claim that is a security threat.

This is a little older thread, but I'll chime in. My browser of choice is SeaMonkey. I've been using it for quite some time now. I have no intent to "switch" to either Firefox or Chromium, but I will say I do have Chromium installed on this laptop. Over the past 12 months or so I've run into maybe 3 or 4 websites that just will not display correctly in SeaMonkey. After trying one or two minor tweaks to make each of those sites work, I decided it was just a WHOLE lot easier to install Chromium and use it for those sites.

If Firefox, SeaMonkey, Opera, or any other "non-default" browser is your weapon of choice, it's just way too easy to install that choice on your own hardware. While Chrome/Chromium wold not be my browser of choice, I certainly see why it would be a default install package. It does work and works well.

Personally, I prefer Firefox's GTK integration and it's ethics over Chrome. However, the WebGL support for Firefox doesn't work on my computer while Chromium works fine. So for sites like https://www.tinkercad.com I switch to Chromium. Otherwise, day-to-day browsing performance is near identical. Keep in mind I have a 13 year old laptop, so the WebGL problem may not pertain to most people.
