Burning MP3 to CD with xfburn
#1
I've just read a thread in software support saying you can burn MP3's to a normal audio CD using xfburn. I've just tried this but got the message -

(filename}.mp3

is not an audio file:

MPEG-1 Layer 3 (MP3) decoder is missing.

You do not have a decoder installed to handle this file.
Probably you need to look at the gst-plugins-* packages
for the necessary plugin

I've looked in synaptic manager but coudn't find anything that looked suitable. What plugins do i need to install?.or am i doing something else wrong? Thanks.

Try installing Restricted Extras from Lite Software. See if that helps.

installed restricted extras as well as 'the good the bad & the ugly' gstream plugins as suggested by xfburn. i now get this dialogue box: Gstreamer did not like this file (detection timed out). The file is a ripped commercial music CD. It has a scratch that is causing a prob. in my CD player but has ripped to MP3 Ok. could this be the fly in the soup?

In the main Forum, Search for 'how to use xfburn' The second result appears to be a solution using the first post.

Thanks. None of the additional plugins mentioned had any effect. I've installed Brasero from synaptic (install/remove software) which has done the job nicely. Thanks all.
