New Theme For XFCE
#1
The default Arc Theme is always a good theme, but a complete new theme which can make the DE look more awesome, is required. I like Square title bar buttons (Minimize/Maximize/Close), as it greatly increases the productivity. Round title bar buttons does not have enough space for a quick click scenario. Whether Square buttons are accurate for that reason.

I am using ARC-WIN8 theme for that purpose. Waiting for a official theme like this.

Hello ayanb,

Ji there seems to be interest in desktop customizations, as recently a new section was created to discuss them - https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/deskt...omization/

Maybe if one of the staff move your post to this you will have more replies.

Themes are also available here - https://www.opendesktop.org/s/XFCE

43 view and no replies, it can be people look to see if they can reply.

Speaking for myself, I viewed and didn't respond because there wasn't a call to action.  If you are looking for opinions, I wouldn't mind if it were a theme added to the Window Manager.  Perhaps this should have been posted to the Suggestions and Feedback part of the forum.

I read it, but didn't reply because I differ with your opinion and suggestion. I didn't want to throw any water on your campfire, especially if others agreed with you. I had a little trouble following your logic of square buttons increasing productivity. I guess I'm just not seeing how much difference in time there is between clicking a square button and clicking a a round button. Sorry. Just my 2 cents worth. And I do tweak my desktop quite a bit, but only for aesthetic reasons.

It's unfair to say say "no one is interested in a better look of the OS". Of course people are.
From a developers perspective, they have no developers page, there is no source. These are 2 red flags, and any sane developer won't go anywhere near their stuff.

I've only ever liked two themes and they were vastly different from each other. Liked KDE Oxygen and old style Debian x almost iconless theme (the one you see in the installer). KDE Oxygen gave you all the eye candy you could ever imagine, and only Debian used its old theme so everyone knew it was Deb when it hit the screen. Nowadays it more like a mood thing. The trend toward flat is driven by google and android. I haven't liked a Windows theme since Windows 3.1. I think the default LL 3.6 DE is very nice now and very easy to understand for new users. I really enjoy the surprise Windows converts express the first time they use LL, almost always amazed at the speed and ease of use, and as they learn more Linux the fun they have with customization.

Hi [member=7091]ayanb[/member]
I like XFCE desktop because it's lightweight and adding a theme that doesn't impact on this I guess is not easy task, however, if you're looking for some round icons, may I suggest numix theme? I've installed it in every linux distro I've ever tried, so yes, I really like it. It's really eye candy and doesn't impact on system resources usage. You can try it by typing in your terminal:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:numix/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install numix-gtk-theme numix-icon-theme-circle
If you fell like trying numix wallpapers then
sudo apt-get install numix-wallpaper-*
If you get some error while trying to set the icon theme just do
gtk-update-icon-cache /usr/share/icons/Numix-Circle/
gtk-update-icon-cache /usr/share/icons/Numix-Circle-Light/
gtk-update-icon-cache /usr/share/icons/Numix/
gtk-update-icon-cache /usr/share/icons/Numix-Light/
I hope this helps! Smile
