Can't test LinuxLite 7.6 in a virtual machine
#1
Hello everyone! I'm new here and I'm glad to be here.
Im' using LL 6.6 but I want to see and test LL 7.6 in a virtual machine, but I can't install this in my PC.
Platform: LinuxLite 6.6 updated, Hp mini PC 400 G2 with 32 GB Ram, 1 TB NVMe and core i5 6500, VirtualBox 7.2.0, Vm with 2 cpu, 4 GB ram and 120 GB virtual disk.
I can't install, the last screen I got is the image, after this in the VM I can use terminal, some app but the installation freezes. I can install the 7.4 version without problems, same config of the latest version.

I need your help. What am I doing wrong?  Shy
PS Please excuse me for my broken english...

Welcome. Don't worry about your English - if anything is not clear just ask.

I don't use VM so I'm not sure what should happen or how to diagnose what is going wrong.
Someone with VM experience may be able to help better.

When the 7.6 installation ends with the screen shot, how exactly do you get a terminal to show ?
What do you mean by 'some app' ?
After that screen, in a normal (not VM) installation we'd expect to see a sequence of graphics advertising the features of LL while the files are copied.
Can you remember if the 7.4 VM installation showed the graphics while copying files ?

Hi, first of all thank you for your reply. I'll try to show my steps to install LL 7.6 in a VM.
Well, I create the VM with these settings:

(attacment removed)

After this, I launch the Live options to be sure that the network is working.
(attacment removed)
So, I can define the amount of space needed, 120 GB, all the disk.
(attacment removed)

The "apps" I was meaning is this SS, I can open terminal, Chrome, VLC but the installation freezes.
(I cannot post other images)
I've probably make a confused post, but I'll try to post the last image

No way, reached the limit.
So, I can open terminal, VLC, Chrome in the Live machine but the install freezes. This is the question.
Thank you

I was confused about when the apps and terminal were checked.

If I understand correctly now, the 7.6 iso live image runs as expected in a VM - for example the apps and terminal work ok. But when you try the install to VM disk, it freezes at the point where it should begin copying the system files to disk.

If that's not correct please explain more.
If that is correct, can you confirm if the 7.4 VM installation showed the advertising graphics while doing the file copying to disk ?
Are you able to do anything in the VM while the install is frozen ?
Sorry I don't know what is possible in a VM.

Yes, you're right. Live machine runs "correctly" and I can use some apps but the installation freezes

I've removed some pictures from the page so I can put another one or two.

The concept is that I want to test the new version before install it in my pc, that i s very, very important for me. Yes, I know, I can use Clonezilla and make an image before, but it request a lot of time. I used to do this from years, before rewrite the machine I want to be sure for the functions. So I use a sandbox (I love this defintion) to see if apply what I'm searching.
Anyway, the Linux Lite 7.4 installation is successful.

Thank you for your attention. Greetings.

Are you able to do anything with the host or VM after the install freezes ?
Does the host system show anything in the vbox.log file ?
Is the VM totally locked or are there any signs of life - like disk activity or the VM clock still updating ?
Does pressing Ctrl Alt T work in the VM while the VM is frozen ?
