[SOLVED] WiFi on Compaq V2000
#11
I installed LL 2.4 today - am connected with a usb wireless adapter for now...

Synaptic shows.... b43-fwcutter - utility for extractig Broadcom 43xx firmware - is installed.

The internal card is a Broadcom BCM4318...

what next ?  - I see many different terminal commands suggested around the net... a bit confusing - sorry for the persistence but really would like to get this working.

lordy lordy...

For the sake of anyone trying to install this driver and gets lost in an endless sea of ever changing terminal commands...

To install Broadcom 4318 Driver for Compaq V2000

Go to synaptic package manager and mark for installation:
1. b43-fwcutter
2. firmware b43-installer
reboot  :o

all working 100%  8)

Hello!

Glad you were able to make it work out for you! By your posting that here, next time you need it, and forget exactly what you did, you can just search here for it...

Yes, good point - hopefully will not forget how to do this now...

It really was simple - everyone's suggestions here on this topic were right on target to what I had to do - Thanks to all !!

I was frustrated originally 'cause I had been looking @ so many threads elsewhere on how to do this with so many different suggestions that simply did not work.
