To get the best experience with wayland run gnome desktop on Debian or Fedora. Most other distros including Ubuntu without gnome are not as current with wayland configurations. XFCE runs on Xorg so Linux Lite would require building and configuring a wayland compositor like weston specifically for your system and hardware, and you would gain little benefit while most of the system would run xwayland windows. Several other configuration problems would probably annoy you to the point that you would abandon the idea. KDE (qt) is resolving wayland currently and should be ready with the next release. I would wait to see what the future release cycle holds as far as Linux Lite goes unless you enjoy tinkering and broken dependencies and have some familiarity with weston.
