[WORKED AROUND]Remapping a key to act as a "return/ENTER" key?
#1
One of my "youth" laptops is missing the enter key "cover" although currently the return/ENTER function STILL works when I simply tap the "space" where the cap should be.

I am however planning for the day when it doesn't work as while the cursor can be used for accepting various things, the return key would still be required for spacing between paragraphs in libre office.

Might someone have a straight forward step-by-step reference on how to re-map a key as a return key?

Thanks Firenice03

I took a look and it seemed a bit over my head, plus subsequent to posting that message I volunteered to help out an acquaintance wipe and install LL3.8 on an old laptop that she will donate to her housekeeper’s daughter in grade 10.

This particular laptop has 8 keys that aren’t working, yet all the others work. The person who donated it didn’t use it herself so doesn’t know what it may have been through.  It seems rather coincidental that these 8 keys are in one particular area, essentially two vertically diagonal rows starting with keys 6 and 7, then the two keys below, two more keys below and two more below. These keys didn’t work in the old Win 7 ultimate OS or in LL 3.2 live or 3.8 live, nor once I installed LL3.8.  I even removed one of the keys to check it out, but no visible issue & no glory after air dusting the keyboard.

So since I had a bigger key issue with this second laptop I found Onboard virtual keyboard which will at least allow this student to more easily take her laptop out of the house without lugging around an external keyboard and will work for the ENTER key issue with the first one.
