If you don't see any options at Install Drivers (Menu, Settings, Install Drivers), consider the following options:

How to install drivers for TP-LINK TL-WN722N on 16.04?
https://askubuntu.com/questions/836207/h...n-on-16-04

or

something like THIS.

If Torreydales doesn't work out...

Try posting the output of:
Code:
inxi -Fxz

It should list your hardware - specifically the wireless device, version and driver...

Its probably a RTLXXXX -- once confirmed the correct driver can be pinpointed.. Smile

I would make a SystemBack back up - should testing/trying drivers not yield the preferred results you can easily revert back...

UPDATE --
So not an RTL Smile but Atheros -- Some added info below on possible install routes...

It would be interesting to check again whether your onboard wifi unit is truly dead.  On our family Fuji laptops (both of a similar vintage to yours) , the onboard wifis were always temperamental with Windoze

However on converting to linux ( including other flavours as well as LL), the onboard wifiis were usable reliable but needed a bit of patience to set up.

Might be worth a try??
