Laptop suspends instead of shutting down in Linux Lite 2.6 64bit
#1
Hello Devs and more knowledgeable Users

Having an issue regarding Laptop compatibility.
Mostly I use a (Lenovo T430 miniDP to DP connected) external screen so therefore I have set XFCE power manager to not do anything when the lid is closed (a cheap mans dock replacement Smile ).

So the issue here is since I use my Laptop with the Lid closed and do a Shutdown via the Whisker menu button and then click Shutdown,
it seems to sometimes suspend instead of shutting down the Laptop.

Has someone figured out a way to correct that behavior?

Since this is my only means of using a computer system (no need to burn that 14" display screen unnecessarily). It would be nice to have a fix for it.

Thank you in advance,

Yes. Have set it up like it's suggested in the forum. I believe it was your post if I'm not mistaken?

Also have disabled Screensaver and no power regulating in the Screensaver Advanced menu.
XFCE power mangager is set up to only suspend on battery when closing the Lid.

I would disable Light locker
configure Power Manager for the what to do..
Use screen saver how you like...

Various configs have worked for me with my set up..

I can try to replicate on mine - I have a KVM set up that should mimic your "dock" ...

Tested same issues as OP..  Mines a 32bit system

Light Locker = Disabled
Screensaver - just a screen saver no additional settings
Power Manager = I have set to do nothing for everything

Lid Closed: Menu>Log Out>Shut Down = System goes into Standby
Lid Opened: Menu>Log Out>Shut Down = System Powers Off
Same with restart..

Lid Closed: Menu>Log Out>Log Off goes to log on prompt then immediately suspends
Lid Open: Menu>Log Out>Log Off goes to log on prompt then can choose shut down and powers off
Lid Closed: Menu>Log Out>Hibernate = Hibernates as it should
