(This post was last modified: 01-21-2015, 12:56 AM by Scott(0).)
When i want to copy some files to a usb stick then i got some problems. The copy starts and after 8-10 seconds it stops for 20-25 seconds and then starts again and stops again after 8-10 seconds and so on and on and on untill the file is copied. During the time it stops notting happens, no data seems to be written. Its also very slow, speed is between 600kb and 1,5mb
I have it with all the sticks i have..they are all usb 2.0 and are 4, 32 and 64gb in size. The 4 and 32 are fat32 and the 64GB is ext4 formatted.
Is there anything i can do about it?
Life on earth is expensive but it does include a free trip around the sun.

Hi,
It seems you are not alone,
Google shows lots of similar situations.
I spotted this item from Dec 2014:
Quote:Just umount the device if it is automounted already, and manually mount it to /mnt/foldername.
In my case,
Code: umount /media/usb0
mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/sam
After that it is copying very fast.
Dave

Hi TMG1961,
Quote:nobody got any idea how to fix this or what is even wrong?
Please be patient, your question is not being ignored. I see you've posted some information Jerry requested in a previous post and if an answer is available I'm sure he (or someone else) will post it just as soon as they have time.

Looks like most of your usb ports are 1.1. Try using the 2.0 port if you have one.
Here is a link to usb in more detail - http://www.linuxnix.com/2013/05/find-usb...mmand.html

One thing i forgot to mention is that when i start the copy it writes at 30-35Mb/sec and after a little time it starts slowing down and the breaks in copy start.
Still trying to find out which of the ports are usb 2 on the laptop.
