Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 Fails to Load - Eagleshadow - 06-18-2017

I have a Logitech webcam that doesn't work in Linux lite.  It could be a incompatability problem.  Is their a way to know for sure?  I believe it is a Logitech Webcam Pro 9000.

It should work out-of-the-box. What are you trying to use it with, what application?

If you haven't yet...
from menu - system - Lite Software, Install Software, Webcam Software..
This will install guvcview (you can type this from menu once installed) this way you can test functionality.

Or as mentioned reply with the software you' re attempting to use..

Running Guvcview.   Software opens and shuts down immediately.  Sorry to report this!

I have the same problem, namely that guvcview loads, then quits immediately in Linux Lite 3.8. It works fine on Linux Lite 2.6, which I have on another hard drive.

Additional info in last two hours: I uninstalled guvcview and installed Cheese instead. It shows exactly the same problem, namely the Cheese screen pops up ~very~ briefly, then immediately closes.

Further info: I ran guvcview in the terminal window on LL 3.8, then I powered down, disconnected the 3.8 hard drive and connected the LL 2.6 drive instead. Then I ran guvcview again in the terminal window (on LL 2.6) and the results are very different.

I found that the guvcview in 2.6 is version 1.7.1, whereas in 3.8 it is version 2.0.2.

I captured the terminal output in both cases. Here is the terminal output from guvcview in LL 3.8. The output from 2.6 follows beneath.

So I have to wonder whether guvcview 2.0.2 is simply not compatible with LL 3.8?

Is it possible to install the older guvcview 1.7.1 in Linux Lite 3.8? If so, how do I do it? (I'm almost a total novice when it comes to Linux.)

Re: Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 Fails to Load - LittleTyke - 03-08-2018

After having tried unsuccessfully to install either guvcview or cheese on Linux Lite 3.8, I installed Camorama this morning, and it works!

See earlier posts in this thread for terminal output errors when trying to run guvcview or cheese. Further info on the cheese install: When I run cheese in the terminal I get the following error:

Code: grunger@Acer-Linux:~$ cheese

(cheese:4620): Cogl-WARNING **: driver/gl/cogl-pipeline-opengl.c:932: GL error (1280): Invalid enumeration value

Segmentation fault
grunger@Acer-Linux:~$

However, since I've now found that Camorama works, I'm not going to look further into why the other two apps don't work on LL 3.8.

Note that both my webcams (I use one or the other) are inexpensive (< $10), purchased from either Amazon or Wilko in the UK. I know that the Wilko one is branded Texet. The other is an A4Tech device.

Final comment (I've said this before), guvcview works fine on LL 2.6.
