Dell wireless card 1395 is not recognized - EDS - 12-10-2015

Just loaded LL 2.6.  Dell wireless card 1395 is not recognized. Works fine on XP. Can someone help me?  I am ready to remove MS XP as soon as I can get this card working. I love this OS. My computer is a Dell Vostro 2510.

If you could provide the output of the following command from terminal (ALT+T):
Code:
inxi -Fxz

When replying with the output use the format [ code]OUTPUT HERE[ /code] (without spaces)..

You can also check Install Drivers.. Menu/System or from Menu type "drivers" see if there are any additional.

Yes. Thanks for the reply.  Went to menu/settings/install driver  The card was listed ,but the box"do nor use" was checked.  I changed it to use driver and pressed "apply".  Now it says to restart, but I am booting from USB.  How do I restart without loosing changes?  or do I have to install to hard drive and then restart??

So you're just using the Live USB? - You haven't installed LL to the drive yet (clicking the install icon)?
I believe that any modifications will write to the USB, so a reboot should be ok...

Are you running2.6 as a live boot off the USB?  You could install 2.6 along side Win XP.
Is your wireless device a Broadcom adapter.  The driver may be missing on the Linux operation, but as firenice03 indicated, may work.  I'll have to try this myself.

The output will confirm make/model of the wireless device - ensuring that the correct driver is installed/to be installed....

You should install to the hard drive if you want changes to stick. The Live media is just a way to preview Linux Lite without committing any permanent changes to your computer.

That looks like a broadcom card. See here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-1310-1318-1510-1525-Wireless-Mini-PCI-E-WiFi-Card-JR356-BCM94312MCG-DW1395-/281431764408?hash=item4186a3edb8:g:lt4AAOSw7NNUCegF

From my experience, the BC card requires the proprietary driver, and it is quite easy to install successfully. I did so via the Install Drivers utility on the Menu (took two tries for some reason), but you can do it by command line as well. Has been working perfectly ever since.
