[SOLVED] Can't install bluetooth adapter - Monkeyman - 12-12-2014
I bought a bluetooth adapter (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833139027) in order to use a set of BT headphones (originally used for my phone). As soon as I plugged it in, I got this:

When I try to pair it with my headphones (or my laptop), I get this:

The BT driver is Windows only (with a .exe file). I can't seem to install it using Wine. (EDIT: Just read that Wine won't install drivers.)
What can I do to get this to work? I don't really care if I can pair it with my laptop (although I swap files daily so it would be helpful if I could) but I need the headphones to work.
EDIT: Found this review on Amazon but can't figure out how to utilize it. The first command does nothing and the second takes me to something unfamiliar to me. I tried to c/p the quoted text but didn't know what to do with it after I pasted it.

Then, copy and paste this into the file WITHOUT QUOTES : "install usb:v0A5Cp21E8d*dc*dsc*dp*ic*isc*ip* /sbin/modprobe btusb; echo 0a5c 21e8 > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/btusb/new_id"
Then, plug in your adapter and launch your Bluetooth manager ("Blueman" recommend). You are now ready to use the device.
Any help would be appreciated.

Did you try to reboot after install ,! Maybe it would work , Don t know if it needs a driver or something .

Hello!
You're welcome. Many have been helped by that tutorial.
The super cheap, generic adapters ($2-$3 on Amazon or Ebay) work better than the more expensive ones, as the expensive ones use Broadcom chips, which are not supported in Linux. (I have also updated the tutorial to reflect this.)
Actually, every time I add a Bluetooth adapter, I refer to it myself. As that other Bluetooth post that was first referenced, it was posted before the final fix was worked out.
To avoid any future confusion, I have added a link to the completed work to the other article. Thank you for helping us by pointing this out!
