Re: Install updates error - anon222 - 11-21-2014 You must update manual to fixx this. Code: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade Oh WYSIWYG editor works on this smartphone. 8) Re: Install updates error - gold_finger - 11-21-2014 @ Coastie, Dana Marsee and Kurt, I don't have any idea what caused your errors. Just ran updates myself a minute ago to see if same thing would happen to me and it all went fine. Maybe there just happened to be some server side problem at time you tried to update. Try again. If still have problem, follow Scott(0)'s link and see if that info helps. (Edit: misko_2083 just posted before I finished writing. Try his suggestion first, then Scott's links.) @ maccool, If you're still around, try what I recommended first before following above links. You may not have same problem as others. Re: Install updates error - Kurt - 11-21-2014 Hi Thanks it seems to be working fine now again… I sometimes get errors when trying to update Windows ( sorry for the bad language ) But Linux Lite is Far more important to me hence why I posted .. Regards Kurt Re: Install updates error - Dana Marsee - 11-21-2014 I just tried the usual "install updates" and everything went fine. Not sure what fixed it...I rebooted earlier and that didn't help. I think the server side problem may be correct. All is well now though. Thanks everybody. Dana Re: Install updates error - Valtam - 11-21-2014 You can actually just run Menu, Favorites, Install Updates to get the new update which has some checks in it (thank you misko). The previous Update script had some code in it to close synaptic and gdebi, so you got an 'error' because they weren't actually running. Now we have a properly scripted check that won't produce any errors. This will put an end I hope to threads where new folk can't run updates because they have a package manager open at the same time. Hope this is clear to all ![]() Re: Install updates error - Coastie - 11-21-2014 (11-21-2014, 05:20 PM)Scott(0) link Wrote: If you're experiencing an error when updating, this post may help: (11-20-2014, 08:50 PM)Scott(0) link Wrote: If you get this error when runing "install-updates" Thanks. That fixed it. Ran Install Updates afterward and it worked but of course it said I was up to date. ;D Re: Install updates error - bitsnpcs - 12-11-2014 I get this error when using install updates. Quote:Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/hydr0g3n/qbittorrent-stable/ubuntu/dists/trusty/main/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found Not finding anything named hydr0g3n via CLI, or Synaptic I decided to use Synaptic for a complete removal of qbittorent , the error still occurs. I tried past week all of the UK mirrors in Synaptic, all produce this error, then re-tried install updates (after closing synaptic for each mirror), I got 20 something updates from my isp mirror, but still this error too. On the UK Ubuntu mirror, I then ran in CLI Code: sudo apt-get upgrade This done a quite scarey 88 updates including lots mentioning the dreaded Plymouth and lightdm, and many codecs for Chromium which I don't have installed and never have had installed (or Chrome). After restart it still functions as usual (the computer) which I was doubtful of during the updates as the updates seemed to be for someone else computer. Using install updates after this upgrade still produces the same error. I realize the error is because hydr0g3n is no longer hosted and so produces the 404 error, it came down as a regular update, can anyone give me some help please on - how to find and remove hydr0g3n from the system to stop the error occuring ? Re: Install updates error - gold_finger - 12-11-2014 bitsnpcs, You can get rid of or disable the repo in one of two ways.
Re: Install updates error - bitsnpcs - 12-11-2014 Thank You gold_finger ![]() Re: Install updates error - bitsnpcs - 12-11-2014 Hello gold_finger, I have done this now, following your tutorial, I used the first method, open file manager as root and deleted the text files for that repo. There were 2 of them .list and .save for hydr0g3n. I then done the updates, and as you said they would be, they are back to normal now ![]() |
