| Linuxlite Re-install |

I read on Facebook, "Linuxlite Re-install. We won't have an upgrade path until we become a more mature, established distro. This could be 2 or 3 versions away"
I appreciate all the volunteer work required for LL but could someone explain to a newby what it means why LL won't have an upgrade path for a while? ???

OK I guess I had better introduce myself. My user name is really not complicated I derived it from my family. O.H. was my grandfathers name, short for Olton Hoyt first and middle respectively. My father was named after him. That's where the Jr comes in, of course I am my fathers son so there ya go.. ohjrson. Any questions? just ask....
On another note I have been playing around with the Linux OS systems for about I guess three years maybe four or 5 can't really remember when I started. Ok maybe I started in 2007 At any rate I am no closer to being any kind of know it all. Nor am I fluent in even a 1/4 of what some of you guys are doing. I like Linux OS and Ubuntu simply because BILL GATES and Windows has nothing to do with them and it is free.... Never mind the fact that these OS's are geared for the user and not the corporations. I absolutely love what Valtam has done with Linux Lite. His creation is phenomenal, LL is by far the best I have seen of all the Ubuntu, Unix or any other operating system. The mere fact that he was able to combine some of them together to make one comprehensive OS is brilliant!!!
OK sorry went on there. But yeah I have tried a lot of OS and this is the one I am hooked on.
Great Job Valtam.

| 1.06 to 1.08 Worth Doing? |

Is there a way to upgrade from 1.06 to 1.08 and keep existing personal files and config, like in some of the more "popular" Ubuntu flavors?
Is it worth doing? 1.06 seems stable and fast...
Thanks

I have a few wifi usb interfaces with this chip. And they never work in Linux when using laptops. I'm using the default network-manager [nm] and LL 1.08 in a laptop.
Also the usb wifi interface will only work if the wifi "hard switch" on the laptop switch is turned on, so then nm gives me a choice of wifi interfaces to connect with. I choose the Realtek USB and it all looks good but it will not authenticate - the password never works. With the laptop's built in wifi it works OK.
I have never been able to get any usb realtek 8187 wifi inferface to work in Linux with any laptop. Funny it seems to work with LL 1.06 on my desktop. I'm not sure if LL 1.06 works better for this or it just that it's not a laptop...haven't tested 1.06 on the laptop but will soon. I seem to remember much older versions of Linux working better w/this chip.
Is there any way to get this chip working? It all looks OK but never connects. WPA2 personal...
This has been going on for years and I can't figure it out.
Thanks

I just wanted to say how good it is that the USB Wifi Interface Realtek 8187L works OK in Linux Lite.
No it does not. Thought it did. After installing 1.08 same problem with all other versions of Linux - will post in hardware section...

Hey all.
Just need to know or get some help with making the Lifescan software One Touch Software work for my Diabetes Glucometer. I have tried to install it using Wine but, it was telling me that the file it was trying to load was corrupted or something. I tried several times to make a fresh file like is said that I needed but that would not work either. Let me know what you need so I can tell you what happens....
Please...
Many Thanks.
