  Netbook boot screen before loading
Posted by: LLfan - 05-24-2025, 10:20 AM - Forum: Start up and Shutdown - Replies (8)

I have installed Linux Lite on an Asus eee PC (Netbook) and it works fine.
The only issue is when booting.
I always get the following screen.

When I press F2 it goes into BIOS then I just press ESC and it loads and all is well.
Does anyone know why I'm getting this screen when I boot?
Thanks.

Slow start up on SDD after clean install
Posted by: vaspatt3 - 05-21-2025, 07:39 PM - Forum: Start up and Shutdown - Replies (4)

Using HP Compaq Presario CQ57.  Runs smooth but boot time is slow.  The grub menu does not appear on startup it just goes straihjt to booting process unless shift key is held at power on.  Any suggestions to help it boot quicker?  Presently clocks anywhere between 2.5 to 3.5 minutes.  Suggestions? Comments?

  Install Microsoft Office
Posted by: beachboy - 05-18-2025, 02:33 PM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (1)

Good afternoon All.

I'm a recent user of Linux and Linux Lite.

I'm trying to install Microsoft Office on Linux Lite, as I tried (and succeeded to do, on Zorin OS).

Installed Wine and PlayonLinux, executed some terminal commands and tried several other solutions without success.

I would like to know if someone as a solution to install Office 2010 or Office 2014.

Thank you in advance for the support you may provide.

Best regards.

Information Secure, Fast Web Browser
Posted by: leaarningantique - 05-14-2025, 02:10 AM - Forum: Installing Software - No Replies

I have used some Linux distros, however i have not used Linux Lite very much. I am looking for a good secure (if there is a such a thing) web browser. In the past I have used Firefox, however after they starting trying or even selling personal information, I got away from them. Any and all suggestions will be accepted.  Undecided

Major problem with VPN connection after last update.
Posted by: fluhxl - 05-13-2025, 10:17 PM - Forum: Other - No Replies

Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing a major issue with my VPN connection after the last Linux Lite update. Before the update, my VPN connection was stable and worked perfectly fine. Now, after the update, the VPN disconnects randomly every few minutes.
I've tried different VPN servers and protocols, but the issue persists. I've also checked my firewall settings and network configuration, but everything seems to be in order.
I'm using OpenVPN with the Network Manager plugin. I've also tried using the command line to connect to the VPN, but the issue remains the same.
Here's what I've tried so far:
* Restarting my computer and network devices.
* Reinstalling the OpenVPN client and Network Manager plugin.
* Checking my firewall settings.
* Trying different VPN servers and protocols.
* Using the command line to connect to the VPN.
I'm not sure what else to try. Has anyone else experienced this issue after the last update? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!.

  wireless networks "device not ready"
Posted by: BilyJimyBobb - 05-13-2025, 12:44 AM - Forum: Network - Replies (33)

works in windows 10 but a fresh LL 7.4 install on dell latitude 3140 notebook (NOT a 2-in-1 model) shows to be an intel Alder Lake-N CNVi network controller. thankfully, the wired/eithernet works for short-term / trouble shooting purposes. don't know what 'terminal' reports to run or include here, please advise...meny grats!  Huh
