Hi. I am brand new to Linux, but loving Linux Lite. I took ages getting things set up, and decided to disable the username and password on login. I even have the wireless printer working, but now I am needing to install updates, and it says I need a "password to perform administrative tasks". Is there any way I can find this without a total reinstall? I had written down the password but can't find it.Thanks.
You should be able to reset the password by following these steps.

The Left s##t key to get into recovery mode is a little tricky... usually I start pressing the Left key as soon as the computer posts.

Cheers!
Thanks for responding. I tried your suggestion and got as far as the recovery screen. I tabbed down to root, and hit Enter as instructed, but it bought up the instruction "give root password for maintenance (or type Control-D to continue)". I could not get past that point. Control-D just took me back to the same screen, and I could then re-chose from the same options.
Use the instructions in the Help Manual > Install > Resetting your Password.
Thank You!. I never expected the Help Manual to cater for my stupidity!! And thanks for it being in plain language, as so often they may as well be in a foreign language....I have successfully changed the password, and done the updates....one VERY happy customer.
Excellent, please mark the thread as solved - https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/intro...uidelines/
